DR. Michael S. Newman, D.O. |
Dr. Newman is currently completing his fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at University of Massachusetts. He has close ties to the EMS world as he worked 6 years as a paramedic in New York City. He was assigned to areas throughout Manhattan (including Harlem and Midtown) as well as the Bronx. He continued to work as a paramedic while he was in medical school at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. Following medical school he completed his internship and residency at Brookdale University Hospital and University of Massachusetts respectively in internal medicine. Since becoming a physician he still continues to have close ties with his EMS colleagues and remains interested in improving the education of pre-hospital care providers. Prior to moving to Massachusetts he had given CME lectures for the EMS department at Lenox Hill Hospital as well as working with them on quality improvement projects. He will be starting his new position as an assistant professor for the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at University of Southern California. At USC he plans to pursue his clinical interests including advanced bronchoscopy, lung cancer staging and asthma. He holds a medical license in Massachusetts and is board certified in Internal Medicine. |
