Ed Stapleton has over 33 years experience in Emergency Medical Services and Emergency Cardiac Care. He served as a Medical Corpsman in the 25th Infantry Division during the Vietnam War and worked as a Paramedic and EMS Educator in the New York City EMS System for over 24 years. He is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor and Director of Prehospital Education at University Hospital and Medical Center at Stony Brook on Long Island. Mr. Stapleton has served as an American Heart Association volunteer for over 25 years and has authored numerous journal articles, textbooks, films, and videos on EMS and Emergency Cardiac Care. He is currently the Basic Life Support Science Editor for the American Heart Association and has co-authored the new BLS guidelines, textbooks, manuals and videos for A.H.A.
